Biography:

Alcina has been teaching and performing in the Bay area since 1993, and has been troupe director of The Bennuvians for the past 8 years. She is currently performing Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at the Menara Moroccan Restaurant in San Jose, where she has been scheduled weekly for over 12 years.

Other restaurant venues have included Pasha's Restaurant in San Francisco, where Alcina worked with live musicians Saturday and Sunday nights for over five years.  She also performed for three years at Marrakesh in San Francisco, and for Persian audiences for two years at Shamshiri / Bistro Atesh Kadeh in Campell.

Festival performances have included the Turkish Cultural Festival which is held every summer in Monterey, The Noe Valley Art & Wine Festival, Desert Dance Festival, and Rakkasah.

Alcina's performance style can best be described as "Cabaret Fusion".  Her *absolute*, without-a-doubt, favorite instructor: . . . Leila Haddad. Other instructors have included Dalia, Ely Buffin, Judeen, Nadia Hamdi, Suzanna Del Vecchio, and Una, and the Turkish influence in Alcina's dance and teaching style can be traced back to Alexandra King and Elizabeth Artemis Mourat. .
